Job Overview

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join their team. The successful candidate will assist in the continued growth and development of their operations, working closely with the Transport Manager to manage total planning operations and drivers on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage total planning operations and drivers on a daily basis, ensuring efficient use of resources and meeting customer demands.
  • Conduct end of shift handover and plan all drivers working on the day, taking into account vehicle availability and driver hours.
  • Issue instructions to departments and ensure that all work is executed as planned, maintaining effective communication with drivers and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all work is planned and amalgamated wherever possible, reducing resources needed to execute the work and minimizing empty running.
  • Manage collection and delivery times, ensuring service levels are met as a minimum and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Control vehicles and re-plan as required to meet customer demands, adapting to changing circumstances and priorities.
  • Continually review the day's workload as it progresses, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as necessary.
  • Answer customer queries and involve the Manager where necessary, providing excellent customer service and resolving issues promptly.
  • Reduce empty running to meet Company targets, optimizing routes and schedules to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
Requirements
  • Transport Management CPC (highly desirable)
  • Experience managing or overseeing a planning team (highly desirable)
  • Previous experience using TMS and Planning systems
  • Experience in General Haulage (highly desirable)
  • Experience managing driver's hours, tacho and infringements
  • Excellent telephone manner and customer service skills
