About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Reinsurance Underwriter to join our team at Allied World. As a key member of our international marine practice, you will be responsible for underwriting new and renewal treaty submissions to drive profitable growth and develop our global presence.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement underwriting strategies to achieve business objectives and maintain a strong market presence.
  2. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate pricing and modeling of accounts, and communicate effectively with actuaries during the peer review process.
  3. Manage a portfolio of accounts, including audits, claims, trends, and market issues, to ensure optimal performance and minimize risk.
  4. Build and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients, identifying new business opportunities and expanding our network.
  5. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, issues, and developments to provide expert advice and guidance to the team.

Requirements

  1. 15+ years of primary and/or treaty reinsurance underwriting experience, with a strong background in marine lines of business.
  2. Established expertise in contract wording, actuarial pricing techniques, and underwriting audits.
  3. Proven ability to work independently, multitask, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Strong communication and writing skills, with proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a global team, with a strong focus on customer service and relationship-building.
