Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Shift Tech to join our team at Whelen Engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform complex assembly operations and lead production teams with minimal supervision.
  • Apply advanced skills to perform functions of the position within assigned areas.
  • Adapt new procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment to meet the complex requirements of the position.
  • Relieve on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
  • Serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues, and refer only the most complex issues to higher levels.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors and use simple electrical test equipment and follow written test procedures.
  • Knowledge of production procedures and ability to read and interpret drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, or reports.
  • Simple computer literacy and ability to work well under pressure and meet multiple deadlines while maintaining a cooperative working relationship with employees and supervisor.
  • Ability to motivate self and encourage coworkers to reach their goals, and may help assist in other areas of production.
  • May assume lead's duties in their absence.
Requirements
  • High School w/6+ years' experience or AA/AS/Technical School w/3-6 years' experience.
  • Certified with J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 Class Standards.
Physical Demands and Abilities
  • Able to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Regularly performs repetitive tasks.
  • Able to stand for entire shift.
  • Regularly possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and third parties.
  • Must be conversant in English as the majority of our workforce and the third parties that we encounter only speak English.
