Software Engineer

As a software engineer at Healthforce, you will be part of a lean, low ego, highly skilled team that includes clinical professionals and tech professionals. We design from customer needs and have systems in place to receive continuous feedback from our customers.

You will research, design and implement high quality software with a great bias towards efficiency, maintainability and extensibility. This will include implementing unit tests and supporting quality assurance procedures.

You will work closely with other engineers, product managers, business analysts, product designers and various other stakeholders across the organization to understand the problem and provide insightful input into how to design the best software solution.

Importantly, you need to be socially minded and should want to apply your creativity and skills to reimagining the way out-of-hospital healthcare can be delivered to all South Africans when enabled by technology.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing high quality software
  • Working closely with other engineers and stakeholders
  • Advocating for and introducing improvements to our development, testing, CI, automation and architecture

Requirements include:

  • At least 4 years of experience as a software engineer
  • Strong experience in Ruby on Rails, Ruby, SQL
  • Strong experience with object oriented programming principles
