About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). As a Senior Healthcare Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our nursing staff in delivering excellent care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, maintaining the privacy and dignity of patients, while working alongside a registered Nurse to provide essential nursing care for paediatric patients.
  • Assist patients with daily living tasks, including washing, going to the toilet, and helping with meals.
  • Help with mobility needs and provide pressure area care.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Take and record patients' vital signs, identifying and escalating changes to a patient's condition to the registered nurse.
  • Train and support new and junior team members, including student nurses.

Requirements
  • Be able to work as a member of a team.
  • Experience of time management and prioritising work.
  • Experience of providing care in a healthcare or social setting.
  • Understands and committed to a caring approach to patients & relatives.
  • One of the following: Level 3 (SCQF - 6), City and Guilds 3, NVQ 3, BTEC National Diploma, or equivalent experience.
  • Level 2 Functional skills in English and Math's, or equivalent.
  • Completion of Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (that maps to the Apprenticeship Standard for Senior Health Care Support Worker) or equivalent experience.
