About this Opportunity:

TQR Plymouth is looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing custom marine components and transforming specifications into detailed, manufacturable designs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop marine shaft line components and propellers.
  • Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD designs under the guidance of the Engineering Manager.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing teams.
Required Skills:
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD essential, Solidworks desirable).
  • Experience in solving technical design challenges.
  • Ability to handle projects of varying sizes, timelines, and complexities.
  • Experience in designing components and assemblies (marine industry experience is a plus).
  • Knowledge of design for manufacture and production environments.
  • Familiarity with design codes and classification rules.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to clearly convey design information.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Passion for design and innovation.
  • Demonstrable commercial experience as a design engineer (marine industry experience but not essential).
