About the Role

As a Lead Clinical Coder, you will be responsible for providing expert clinical coding services to our team. With a minimum of 7 years experience in clinical coding and a nationally recognised ACC qualification, you will have a deep understanding of the complexities involved in translating clinical information into codes. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring accurate and timely data is collected and processed, enabling us to make informed decisions about patient care and trust income.

The successful candidate will be an experienced coder with strong management skills, able to motivate and support a team of coders to achieve high quality standards. You will be responsible for co-ordinating and line managing the Clinical Coding Team, setting data quality standards and ensuring that all coding is completed to strict deadlines.

In addition to your technical expertise, you will be required to promote continuous improvement in data quality, keeping up-to-date with developments and innovations in medical, surgical and coding disciplines. This role requires someone who is proactive, organised and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

  • Provide first line clinical coding expertise to the Clinical Coding Team, ensuring accurate and timely coding of patient records.
  • Undertake direct complex clinical coding workload to maintain Advanced Clinical Coder status and expertise.
  • Investigate and correct coded clinical data rejected or queried by recipient information systems.
  • Implement Income Recovery projects to maximise Trust income.
