About the Role

We are seeking a talented Data Scientist to join our team at Starling Bank. As a Data Scientist, you will play a key role in delivering data-driven solutions and insights to improve the speed, efficiency, and quality of decision-making across the bank.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with technical and non-technical teams to deliver insights that support the wider business
  • Build, test, and deploy machine learning models to improve and/or automate decision-making
  • Provide insightful analytics to assist with decision-making
  • Engage with Engineering teams to ensure data points are captured that are relevant and useful for insights and modeling
Requirements

We are open-minded when it comes to hiring and care more about aptitude and attitude than specific experience or qualifications. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrable industry experience in Data Science/Machine Learning in Financial Crime, Anti-Money Laundering, Transaction Monitoring, or Anomaly Detection
  • Excellent skills in Python and SQL
  • Experience with libraries such as Scikit-learn, Tensorflow, and Pytorch
  • Strong data wrangling skills for merging, cleaning, and sampling data
  • Strong data visualization and communication skills
  • Understanding of the software development life cycle and experience using version control tools such as git
  • Demonstrable experience deploying machine learning solutions in a production environment
Desirables

We are looking for candidates with experience in AWS/GCP and a desire to build explainable ML models using techniques such as SHAP.
