The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a wide range of services, including protective security, trading standards, licensing, and digital evidence (CCTV). They will develop and implement service plans, strategies, and policies that drive continuous service improvement.

Main Accountabilities

The Head of Public Protection and Consumer Standards will:

  • Develop and implement service plans, strategies, and policies that drive continuous service improvement.">
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver public protection objectives.">
  • Act as the council's primary contact for counter-terrorism matters.">
  • Manage significant budgets (£400,000 - £600,000) and contracts to ensure value for money.">
  • Oversee the borough's CCTV network and ensure compliance with surveillance regulations.">

Requirements

We are seeking a seasoned professional with a strong background in public protection and consumer standards. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of key issues affecting the borough, particularly in delivering compliant CCTV provision, a robust CONTEST strategy, and delivery of commercial environmental health services.

They will bring significant experience managing stakeholder engagement and strong leadership skills with clear experience of motivating teams and improving service delivery. Expertise in managing proactive enforcement, legal compliance, and risk management is essential.
