About the RoleThe successful candidate for Consultant Anaesthetist, with an interest in Chronic Pain Management, will have a broad-based training in both chronic pain management and anaesthesia. This role involves caring for complex patients undergoing major surgeries and supporting the out-of-hours emergency anaesthesia services at University Hospital.
University Hospital is a large teaching hospital, serving as the Major Trauma centre for the Central England Trauma Network. We offer anaesthesia and perioperative care for all major sub-specialties, including cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, and renal transplant services.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver and develop anaesthesia, pain, and critical care services for the Trust, working collaboratively with colleagues across all disciplines to provide an integrated and high-quality service for patients. This includes ensuring all services are delivered in an effective and efficient manner and that principles of risk management and clinical governance are maintained at all times.
- Engage in the teaching and training of junior doctors and allied healthcare professionals in anaesthesia and critical care.
- Participate in the general activities of consultants at the Trust, including teaching, clinical governance, administration, and management.
- Support and develop innovative improvements within the department and the Trust to maintain and enhance the quality of patient care.
