We are seeking a caring and patient Direct Payment Worker to assist a 9-year-old girl with myoclonic muscular dystrophy and wheelchair mobility. She requires personal care needs, and we need someone who can provide support and companionship.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have experience in supporting young people with disabilities and be able to adapt to the individual's needs. The role involves assisting with daily living tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and toileting, as well as engaging in activities that bring joy and fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with personal care needs, including bathing, dressing, and toileting
  • Support the individual with wheelchair mobility and transfers
  • Engage in activities that promote independence and quality of life, such as baking, swimming, crafting, and watching television
  • Communicate effectively with the individual using sign language and gestures, as well as providing emotional support and companionship
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A caring and patient approach, with experience in supporting young people with disabilities
  • Good communication skills, with ability to adapt to individual needs
  • Ability to work independently, with initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends
