About the Role

The Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Practitioner to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Clinical Practitioner, you will play a key role in providing high-quality clinical services to individuals with personality disorders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of clients to identify specific personality traits, emotional abilities, and capacity to work towards shared treatment goals.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate a range of therapy groups, including Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).
  • Act as Lead Professional for an identified number of service users with severe personality disorder, establishing and maintaining a long-term supportive relationship.
  • Conduct joint home visits for engagement purposes or emergency assessments, as clinically indicated.
  • Initiate and carry through safeguarding alerts where appropriate.
  • Work with service users within intimate and emotionally intense individual and group sessions, where their behaviour may be unpredictable and challenging.
  • Undertake risk assessments and manage risk as part of the treatment process to maintain a safe and therapeutically sensitive environment for all.
  • Assess the needs of carers and work with them to best support the service user, where consent is given/appropriate.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Relevant core professional qualification and registration (Nursing, Occupational therapy, Social work, Psychology, Psychotherapy).
  • Training/knowledge of therapies relevant to Personality Disorder, Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT), and/or Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and application to practice.

Desirable

  • Substantial postgraduate training and/or qualifications to diploma level relevant to personality disorder or models of practice.
