We are seeking a highly skilled Senior/Principal Cost Engineer/Cost Consultant to join our team at Gregory-Martin International, where you will play a pivotal role in providing expert cost engineering services to our clients in the defence sector.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to leverage their expertise in cost management, analysis, and estimation to drive business growth and success. As a Senior/Principal Cost Engineer/Cost Consultant, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality consulting projects, building strong relationships with customers, and working autonomously within customer teams to support complex business cases and project initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver Technical Consulting Projects: You will work closely with clients to understand their needs, develop tailored solutions, and implement effective cost management strategies that meet their objectives.
- Establish and Maintain Customer Relationships: Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to build trust with clients, foster strong partnerships, and identify opportunities for growth and expansion.
- Work Autonomously: You will have the flexibility to work independently within customer teams, supporting rapid turn-around analysis and driving project success through effective planning, execution, and delivery.
To succeed in this role, you will need to possess a strong foundation in cost engineering, analysis, and estimation, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Key requirements include:
- Strong Microsoft Excel Skills: You will need to develop and maintain advanced cost models that adhere to JSP 507/JSP 655 guidelines.
- Knowledge of Investment Appraisals and Cost Benefit Analysis: Your expertise in trade studies, business cases, and cost benefit analysis will enable you to support stage gate approvals and drive informed decision-making.
- Cost Estimating and Risk Analysis: You will need to apply independent cost estimating techniques, including bottom-up, analogous, and parametric methods, to support hardware and software systems.
- Cost/Schedule Risk Analysis: Your ability to conduct quantitative assessments of uncertainty and schedule risk assessment will be critical in identifying and mitigating potential risks.
- Independent Verification and Validation: You will need to audit against third-party supplied cost models to ensure accuracy and reliability.
In addition to the essential requirements, we are looking for candidates who possess:
- Membership of a Relevant Professional Body: A desire for further professional development and a commitment to maintaining industry-recognized certifications.
- Knowledge of Visual Basic: Familiarity with programming languages and experience in developing custom tools and scripts.
- Experience in MOD, Business, and Safety-Critical Programmes: Proven track record of delivering cost management services in complex environments.
- Risk Management Tools: Experience with @Risk and SEER-H, with the ability to apply these tools to drive informed decision-making.
As a Senior/Principal Cost Engineer/Cost Consultant at Gregory-Martin International, you can expect a highly competitive salary package, comprising a base salary of £65,000, plus bonuses and benefits.
