About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialist school for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs in Bristol. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of young children and adolescents aged 8 to 18 who have experienced trauma, mental health challenges, and behavioural difficulties.

Our school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment where students can thrive. We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting the emotional and mental health needs of children and adolescents, and who is committed to making a positive impact on their lives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the mental health and wellbeing of young children and adolescents aged 8 to 18
  • Work closely with therapists and psychologists to develop and implement individualized support plans
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students in a one-to-one and group setting
  • Assist with lesson planning and delivery to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive approach to supporting students' mental health needs
Requirements:

  • Has a strong understanding of child development and mental health
  • Has experience working with children and adolescents with emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Is able to work effectively in a team and build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and training
