We are seeking an experienced Electrical Transformer Fitter to join our Operations team at Baker Harding Limited in Leeds. Our company is a leading manufacturer and supplier of electrical power distribution equipment, pioneering super low loss amorphous transformer technology.

The Role

Your key responsibilities will include fitting various types of distribution and power transformers, as well as wiring and assembling components for the marshalling department from scratch. You will be responsible for preparing work by studying assembly instructions, reading and interpreting electrical layout drawings and schematic wiring, parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools and materials.

  • Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies
  • Crimping, looping and cable terminating work on control panels
  • Glanding and terminating various SWA cables
  • Cutting and fitting tray work to run cables on transformers
  • Soldering

You will be expected to maintain the highest level of workmanship standards and product quality, ensuring products are produced and delivered on time to meet customer requirements. Additionally, you will check and complete all paperwork associated with the works order, perform area housekeeping activities, including prompt reporting of problems, shortages or equipment breakdowns, and use general workshop machinery and hand tools related to the fitting role.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience of electrical assembly and wiring of control panels, as well as working within a mechanical/electrical engineering environment. Cable end termination experience (crimping/soldering) is essential, and holding electrical qualifications and knowledge of electrical regulations is also required. The ability to understand electrical schematic drawings is essential, and good written and verbal communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration with other operations personnel.
