Job Summary

The post holder will be responsible for delivering advanced practice at a level above that expected of a Band 7 Sonographer, ensuring effective patient treatment and diagnosis. The post holder will ensure operational standards are met to deliver a progressive service.

Main Duties
  • To line manage the service in the absence of the Superintendent Sonographer, IDAs, and support staff, including aspects of recruitment, appraisal, CPD, and performance management.
  • To organize and prioritize workload in the Imaging Department, taking into account service demands, and lead, supervise, support, and ensure appropriate training for all relevant staff.
  • To assist in the identification, design, planning, and procurement of new equipment, ensuring positive liaison between all stakeholders during the installation process.
  • To contribute to the maintenance and monitoring of imaging standards in conjunction with the Imaging Quality Manager and Superintendent Sonographer.
  • To assist in the development of protocols and procedures, in relation to IR(ME)R 2017 requirements, which govern the Imaging Department, Trust, and external referrers.
  • To be responsible for the monitoring and control of stock and non-stock items, and ensure adherence to the Trust's standing orders and other financial instructions.
