Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive pay and reward strategy that aligns with the agency's business objectives and meets the needs of staff.
  • Manage the annual pay award process, including pay modelling options, and engage with Trade Unions to ensure a fair and equitable outcome.
  • Review and update the agency's pay and pay-related policies to ensure compliance with statutory, Cabinet Office, and Treasury requirements.
  • Manage the contract with our outsourced payroll and employee benefits providers, ensuring key performance indicators are delivered and performance is optimized.
  • Line manage three Co-Ordinators who are responsible for processing the agency payroll, providing advice on terms and conditions, and managing employee changes.

Person Specification

The successful Head of Compensation and Benefits will have previous exposure in policy interpretation, application, and development, with a good understanding of the current climate in respect of pay. They will be analytical, able to solve problems, and comfortable collaborating with others to develop options and proposals. A high level of data analysis skills to decipher raw data and present analysis and trends is essential.

Benefits

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency offers a competitive salary of £56,353, plus a contribution of £16,325 towards membership of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Additional benefits include:

  • Annual Leave: 25 days annual leave on entry, rising by one day for each completed year of service to a maximum of 30 days and pro-rata for part-time staff.
  • Privilege Leave: 1 day.
  • Hours of Work: 37 hours (net) per week for full-time staff in all geographical locations, including London and pro-rata for part-time staff.
  • Occupational Sick Pay (OSP): One month full pay/one month half pay on entry, rising by one month for each completed year of service to a maximum of five months full pay/five months half pay.
  • Mobility: Mobility clause in contracts allowing staff to be mobile across the Civil Service.
