About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mobile Maintenance Fitter (Mechanical Plant) to join our team in the North East region. As a key member of our 24/7 engineering function, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our quarries and asphalt sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to plant breakdowns and implement timely and effective repairs
- Undertake emergency breakdown repairs with minimal supervision
- Own and deliver small-scale projects to improve maintenance efficiency
- Take a cost-conscious approach to maintenance activities
- Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to ensure seamless operations
- Participate in root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering function
- Work with risk assessments and method statements to ensure safe working practices
Requirements
- Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent experience in a strong mechanical systems environment
- Experience working with conveyors, drive systems, and heavy equipment
- Strong fault-finding ability and ability to recommend effective solutions
- Ability to remove and fit bearings, and experience with welding and fabricating
- Self-motivated approach and enthusiasm for delivering results
- Good IT skills and ability to use application-based inspection schemes
- Knowledge of site-specific SHE procedures and Safe Working Practices
