Technical Procurement Specialist

At Gripple Ltd, an employee-owned company, we design, manufacture, and sell innovative, patented products for the construction, agriculture, solar, and infrastructure markets.

We are now recruiting for a Technical Buyer to join the supply chain team, working within the purchasing team responsible for supplying goods into our UK-based manufacturing plants.

The role involves managing the end-to-end procurement process, from design through to tooling and sampling, including:

  • obtaining quotations and achieving best commercial offers possible
  • conducting research for new components and sourcing to material specifications and bespoke engineering drawings
  • sourcing and onboarding new suppliers in line with company values
  • improving prices and terms of business with suppliers and reviewing opportunities to make business savings by utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
  • producing and presenting reports/information sets for both internal and external consumption
  • providing analysis on costs, new and existing, and reviewing cost reduction activities
  • applying a professional and consistent approach to all supplier relationships
  • following all necessary governance/approvals related to procurement

Working hours are Mon - Fri 8.30am - 5.00pm, with core office hours of 7.00am-7.00pm Monday-Friday.

You will need to have experience of working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a purchasing team, with familiarity with technical specifications, engineering drawings, and scopes of work.

Key skills and qualifications include:

  • experience in procurement projects in industries such as construction, rail, etc.
  • commercial awareness and ability to identify and mitigate key supply chain risks prior to placing purchase orders
  • experience in purchasing, price negotiation, and contract implementation
  • ability to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and suppliers on a global setting
  • excellent communication and influencing skills
  • ability to manage and prioritise tasks to given deadlines
  • commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure to supply impacts the manufacturing process and customer order fulfilment
  • ability to work as part of the team and independently where required

A Charted Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) Diploma level 4 or similar qualification is desirable.
