Employment Solicitor Opportunity

Watson Woodhouse & Macks Solicitors is seeking a highly skilled Employment Solicitor to join our esteemed law firm at our Darlington office. As a Claimant Employment Solicitor, you will handle a wide range of employment law cases, advocating for the rights of individuals facing workplace-related issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of both Respondent and Applicant work from commencement to conclusion.
  • Representation at Tribunal, including advocacy services.
  • Consideration of settlement options in the client's best interests, taking into account the client's circumstances and assessments of quantum following review of legislation and developing case law.
  • Manage all client work expeditiously and in accordance with detailed procedures and quality standards contained in the practice's office manual.
  • Consider various funding options with clients, including CFA's, DBA's, private retainers, insurance policies, and trade union funding.
  • Ensure that payment for work on account is obtained before commencement of work (in appropriate cases) and bills for professional charges settled within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Comply with the Solicitors' Accounts Rules and the Solicitors' Code of Conduct 2007.
  • Keep clients fully up-to-date in both oral and written communications, which are to be contemporaneously recorded on the electronic case management system.
  • Ensure good working relationships with external institutions and organisations and develop new working relationships to grow and expand the department to generate increased revenue.
  • Undertake any specific training when required to do so and take responsibility for own self-development.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Solicitor with 2 years of experience in this field would be desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law principles, procedures, and relevant legislation.
  • Proven track record of handling complex employment law cases with professionalism and sensitivity.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional client management and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong time management skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and ethical standards.
