Transport Operations Coordinator

Job Description:
Great Bear, a leading provider of distribution services to FMCG clients, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transport Planner to join their team. As a key member of the logistics department, you will be responsible for the day-to-day planning of the transport operation, ensuring the efficient movement of goods across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Subcontracting and planning orders out of multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK.
- Planning daily workload for a fleet of vehicles based on and off site.
- Dealing with queries and issues by telephone, fax, and email from customers, sub-contract hauliers, and warehousing sites.
- Liaising with Traffic and Administration teams to ensure the highest standards of performance are maintained at all times.
- Maintaining, creating, and updating spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
- Reporting problems and dealing with issues and any queries that arise.
- Supporting the fleet and driver training team as and when required.
- Completing pre- and post-debrief for all driver shifts.
- Delivering effective, professional, and timely internal and external communications.
Requirements:
- A high level of transport planning expertise in a busy and demanding environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organisational skills.
- The ability to make decisions under pressure and to a tight timescale.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to working in order to meet the requirements of the business, particularly at peak periods during the year.
- The ability to communicate well at all levels within the business.
- The ability to identify and suggest improvements to benefit both the Company and our customers.
- A highly motivated individual able to work as part of a small friendly team and under own initiative.
- Knowledge of SAP, BPCS, and Road Runner would be advantageous.
