Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at a client secondary school in Gateshead. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students with SEMH needs, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to deliver effective interventions and strategies to meet student outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Education Health Care Plans to ensure student outcomes are met.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting students with SEMH needs.

Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or willingness to apply for a new one with GSL Education.
  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff and students.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
