We are seeking a skilled Production Engineer to join our team at fish4.co - Jobboard. As a Production Engineer, you will be responsible for producing all relevant documentation, routings, procedures, programs, tooling, and equipment to enable the successful manufacture and testing of various valves for the Oil & Gas, Nuclear, and Marine sectors.

The ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of modern manufacturing methods, including CAM software, CNC machining, and lean principles. You will be able to design jigs and fixtures using CAD, and possess excellent organizational and planning skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Use CAM software to produce programs for a variety of multi-axis CNC machines.
  2. Create set-up sheets for CNC machines to include all information about cutting tools, fixtures, and inspection equipment.
  3. Support with the prove-out of new programs across CNC machines.
  4. Ensure updated CNC programs are returned in a timely manner.
  5. Support with, and make improvements to, a wide range of production techniques for machining of components.
  6. Assist the production team with their day-to-day production requirements.
  7. Develop solutions for manufacturing components across the machine shop.
  8. Design new cutting tools and work holding solutions.
  9. Identify waste within the manufacturing processes and lead continuous improvement activities.
  10. Review the cost of products and cost of poor quality.
  11. Maintain and apply lean principles to the machining environment.
  12. Design jigs and fixtures using CAD.
  13. Provide detailed manufacturing procedures.

Requirements:

  • Qualified to HNC level or actively working towards completion of a similar Mechanical or Production Engineering qualification.
  • Possess a sound understanding of modern manufacturing methods.
  • Able to design jigs and fixtures using CAD.
  • Conversant with Design for manufacture (DFM), Lean Manufacture Value Analysis, and Value Engineering (VAVE).
  • Flexible with the ability to work to deadlines.
  • PC Literate, specifically in PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Project, and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Able to demonstrate a thorough understanding and experience of quality, safety, maintenance, and CNC machining.
  • Demonstrable experience in programming and setting 4/5-axis CNC machines.
