Senior Network Implementation Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Implementation Engineer to join our team at Ofgem ECO Reporting Working Group. As a key member of our Digital, Data, and Technology (DDaT) team, you will play a vital role in supporting the UK's transition to clean, affordable energy by expanding our capabilities.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide day-to-day network infrastructure support and strategic and tactical enhancements, including migrating core services to the cloud (Azure) and upgrading on-premises network technology.
- Develop and implement Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) architecture and supporting IT Network Infrastructure.
- Identify and implement technical improvements and upgrades to the network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with the CTO function and support teams to enhance, manage, and maintain the existing network covering development, staging, and live environments.
- Support our remote working existing core network implementation and configuration.
- Troubleshoot complex incident and project escalations, and the ability to learn new skills/technologies both on-the-fly and with support via colleagues or training.
- Lead and communicate insights and vendor & framework best practices with peers and stakeholders on these service improvements.
- Document our Networking Services, project documentation, and incident remediation or information for security purposes.
Requirements
We are looking for knowledge and experience in the following technologies:
- Layer 2 and layer 3 switched and routed networks, preferably using Cisco hardware, preferably educated to CCNA and CCNP knowledge level (Routing and Switching).
- Network Security, including on-premises, cloud, and hybrid deployments. Implementation and configuration of SD-WAN networks, network monitoring, and network optimisation.
- Cloud environments, specifically Azure, e.g., Transit Gateway, Azure Firewall.
- Routing protocols, in particular OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
- Configuration and management of remote access technologies.
- WAN technologies, ideally MPLS and IPSEC VPN.
Desirable Criteria
We are also looking for experience in:
- Wireless LANs, preferably using Cisco Access Points, Network Access Control Systems such as Cisco ISE.
- Disaster Recovery development, designs, and implementation.
About Ofgem ECO Reporting Working Group
Ofgem ECO Reporting Working Group is a non-ministerial government department and an independent National Regulatory Authority. Our principal objective is to protect the interests of existing and future electricity and gas consumers. We do this by promoting value for money, promoting security of supply and sustainability, for present and future generations of consumers, domestic and industrial users, the supervision and development of markets and competition, regulation and the delivery of government schemes. We work effectively with, but are independent of, government, the energy industry, and other stakeholders within a legal framework determined by the UK government and the European Union.
We are building a Digital, Data, and Technology (DDaT) driven organisation at Ofgem ECO Reporting Working Group and will lead industry by showcasing best practice when dealing with data, digital, and technology in the energy sector. Our more modern, insight-driven, innovative approach to DDaT will provide outstanding experiences at the right cost, quality, and pace for the whole of Ofgem and ensure consumers receive a top-quality and cost-effective supply of energy.
