About the Role

The National Infrastructure Commission is seeking an experienced Head of Governance to join its Operations Team. As a key leader, you will be responsible for delivering good governance and compliance, supporting the Commission's boards and committees, and managing a small team.

This is an exciting opportunity to expand your skills and breadth of experience, and drive strategic and operational change within the NIC. The role will support the transition of the National Infrastructure Commission and Infrastructure and Projects Authority into a new body, as announced by the Government.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead corporate governance policies and processes, ensuring they are enforced across the organisation.
  • Act as Secretariat for NIC boards and committees, ensuring efficient and effective administration.
  • Support transitional arrangements for the new body.
  • Review and redesign governance processes to maximise efficiency and quality service provision.
  • Lead corporate reporting, including the annual report and corporate plan.
  • Act as Data Protection Officer and lead knowledge and information policies and processes.
  • Represent the NIC to HM Treasury and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and deliver improvements in the Operations Team's service provision.
  • Support project delivery across the Operations Team.
  • Effectively manage and develop two staff members.
Requirements
  • Working knowledge of public sector corporate governance.
  • Proven experience in a governance role within the Public Sector or Not for Profit sector.
  • Knowledge of data protection laws and regulations.
