Job Description

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Coastal Modelling Expert to join our team at Moody's Investors Service. As a key member of our Model Development department, you will be responsible for building and developing storm surge, wave, and coastal defense model components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advanced coastal modelling techniques to improve the accuracy of our risk models.
  • Collaborate with our team of scientists and engineers to advance our models through research and implementation of novel scientific techniques.
  • Work closely with our data team to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our data.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality documentation of our models and processes.
  • Contribute to the development of our risk models and ensure they are aligned with industry best practices.

Requirements

  • PhD in a field related to storm-surge or other aspects of coastal ocean modelling.
  • Experience working with high-performance clusters in a UNIX or Linux environment.
  • Experience with numerical models, handling large data sets, or statistical modelling.
  • Strong programming ability in scientific and analytical programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Fortran).
  • Experience in using GitHub or similar code management software is advantageous.
