Job Title: Inspector of Animal Science

Reed Professional Services is seeking a highly skilled Inspector to play a critical role in ensuring compliance with the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act (ASPA) and maintaining public confidence in the protection of animals used in scientific procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prioritize and process casework on a daily basis, ensuring timely and accurate decision-making.
  • Provide strategic oversight of governance processes to ensure compliance with ASPA.
  • Guide the regulated community on licensing requirements and compliance with ASPA.
  • Make informed decisions on licence applications under ASPA.
  • Conduct on-site visits, audits, documentation reviews, and interviews to assess licence holders' compliance.
  • Analyze complex data to identify patterns and trends for informed decision-making.
  • Develop and monitor remedial plans to enhance compliance.
  • Communicate compliance indicators and instigate improvements.
  • Document assessments of compliance with clear improvement requirements.
  • Benchmark performance and adopt best practices for continuous improvement.
Requirements:
  • Full registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) or the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Minimum CTC Clearance.
  • Knowledge of biomedical and life sciences research, including the UK research environment and regulatory framework.
  • Experience in data collection, integration, and reporting.
  • Proven ability in policy development, implementation, and assessment.
  • Ability to influence senior individuals positively.
  • Track record of delivering objectives and innovating solutions to problems.
  • Experience in partnership working with organizations at all levels.
  • Skilled in communicating complex technical and/or legal subjects to diverse audiences.
