About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Cook to join our team at Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of catering staff and overseeing the preparation and presentation of meals.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage a team of catering staff to ensure high-quality meal production
  • Plan, prepare, and present meals in accordance with established menus and dietary requirements
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to health and safety regulations and quality monitoring procedures
  • Develop and implement effective staffing schedules to meet business needs
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide excellent patient care and service
  • Ensure compliance with NHS standards and legislation, including COSHH regulations and Estates and Facilities services
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork and employee engagement
  • Implement efficient systems for food stock management and ordering


Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven track record in supervising and managing teams, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Strong leadership skills, with ability to motivate and develop staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, patients, and stakeholders
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices, as well as relevant legislation and regulations
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and bank holidays
