Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced individual to lead our manufacturing department as a Director of Biological Manufacturing. Our client is an innovative biotechnology company based in Cambridgeshire, facilitating the development and manufacture of new gene and cell-based therapies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define long-term objectives for the manufacturing department, aligning them with overall business goals.
  • Drive operational excellence to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
  • Continuously expand and develop manufacturing processes and frameworks across GMP cleanroom facilities.
  • Support technology transfer projects from research and development teams.
  • Lead daily organizational activities of the GMP team and take responsibility for staff training.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and excellence, while driving initiatives to enhance the manufacturing process, reduce waste, and maintain product quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development and commercialization efforts.
  • Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization.
Requirements
  • BSc / MSc / PhD in Biology (or equivalent biological degree) (desired)
  • Proven track record of success in leadership roles within biological manufacturing or production operations.
  • Expertise in internal technology transfer of R&D projects to manufacturing, including scale-up, process optimization, and stability testing.
  • Prior experience working within a GMP environment and strong understanding of GMP documentation.
  • Proven experience in leading manufacturing teams and leading manufacturing projects.
  • A background that involves molecular or cellular biology (ideal/desired)
