Job Role: Fleet Engineer

South Central Fleet Services Ltd is seeking an experienced Fleet Engineer to join our team at our workshop facility in Didcot. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining vehicles on behalf of South Central Ambulance Service, ensuring maximum levels of vehicle availability at all times.

The role involves performing a vital and challenging task, requiring the highest standards of maintenance and repair. The Fleet Engineer will work on a diverse range of vehicles and equipment, including ambulances, tail-lifts, stretchers, and advanced electronic components.

Main Duties:
  • Carry out maintenance and repairs of ambulances and other vehicles, as specified by SCFS Ltd, to the required standards.
  • Attend scenes of breakdowns for repairs, ensuring safety guidelines are followed.
  • Prepare new vehicles for service and prepare old vehicles for disposal.
  • Maintain records of maintenance and repair, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Have due regard to health and safety, reporting hazards or accidents immediately.
  • Be aware of and follow security procedures.
  • Attend training courses to develop skills and knowledge.
  • Make decisions on vehicle repairs, in the absence of the Fleet Supervisor.
  • Participate in Duty Mechanic standby rota system.

South Central Fleet Services Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary company of South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, responsible for delivering and maintaining vehicles to the trust.

The successful candidate will be rewarded with a competitive salary, circa £37,755 pa, plus opportunities for overtime and bonuses, up to £45k pa.

Holiday entitlement is 25 days per annum, plus bank holidays, providing a good work-life balance.
