Role Summary

Snap Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Process and Characterisation Engineer to join its Snap Lab team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and optimising fabrication processes for optoelectronic devices, including metal, dielectric, and semiconductor materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimise fabrication processes for optoelectronic devices
  • Define optoelectronic device characterisation methods and techniques
  • Perform device characterisations and provide detailed results, analysis, and interpretation of data to assist in device fabrication process optimisation
  • Collaborate with display, reliability, and application engineers to develop solutions that benefit product performance and quality
  • Document, implement, and maintain cleanroom quality standards through risk assessments, SoPs, and work instructions
  • Drive benchmarking and understanding of competitor device technologies

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of optoelectronic semiconductor device physics and technologies
  • Expertise in microfabrication and metrology techniques, including photolithography, nanoimprint, dry and wet etching, deposition, SEM, AFM, ellipsometry
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of optoelectronic device characterisation techniques
  • Competence at efficient experimental practice and design techniques
  • Program management skills, including excellent communication, coordination, and documentation
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risk during new development and manufacturing
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and ability to progress multiple projects in parallel
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team player with strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in optics, physics, electrical engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, process development, design, and/or program management of semiconductor optical devices, displays, or optical modules

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or master's degree in optics, physics, electrical engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, process development, design, and/or program management of semiconductor optical devices, displays, or optical modules
