We are seeking an experienced Strategic Procurement Leader to join our Government Commercial Function team. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the Navy Commercial Procurement function, providing dedicated support to our customers from initial scoping of projects/programmes through options assessment, into procurement and award.
This is an exciting time within Navy Commercial, and we are looking for an individual who can share their experience and influence a more streamlined and effective approach to acquisition. You will work closely with other category, finance and project leads within MOD and Government Commercial Function teams to develop strategic approaches to Defence spend.
About the Role:
- Provide strategic commercial leadership to the Navy Commercial Procurement function, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
- Develop and implement commercial strategies to meet customer requirements, underpinned by an in-depth understanding of the fundamentals of procurement and commercial activity.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, stakeholders, and customers to deliver mutually beneficial solutions.
- Lead negotiations and contract management activities to ensure successful project delivery.
- Collaborate with the wider Government Commercial Organisation to drive innovation, cost savings, and process improvements across the Defence sector.
Your Skills and Qualifications:
- MCIPS or equivalent commercial qualification.
- Proven track record in strategic procurement, with experience in managing complex projects and programmes.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with ability to build strong relationships at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to identify and mitigate commercial risks.
- Experience of working in a matrix environment, with ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and teams.
What We Offer:
- An annual salary of £80,000 - £110,000, depending on experience.
