About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Network Rail as a Sponsorship Manager, working closely with clients and stakeholders to deliver ambitious projects that transform the rail network in Wales and Borders.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Build effective relationships with clients, Network Rail, and industry stakeholders to balance their requirements and champion their interests.
  • Review and interrogate client remits to confirm their viability, working with internal and external stakeholders to establish a scope that optimises client requirements, value for money, network availability, and capacity for future development and whole life cost.
  • Be responsible for converting client remits into agreed project requirements specifications, developing initial project plans and budgets, and working with project managers to specify project delivery, expected milestones, and associated timescales, resource requirements, risks, and funding needs.
  • Produce business cases and investment papers for projects, devising solutions that maintain 'business as usual' accessibility for customers, consider the 7-day railway principles, and minimise disruption to end rail users.
  • Lead the process of quantifying risk associated with projects, devising mitigating actions, and periodically reviewing recovery progress.
  • Interrogate and challenge plans to assess deliverability of agreed scope within stated timescales and cost parameters, presenting required scope changes to clients for approval.
  • Hold project managers accountable for programme delivery to cost, time, and scope parameters, holding periodic reviews to understand and challenge delivery progress against client remits, and communicating progress status against defined milestones and expectations to stakeholders.
  • Negotiate with customers and stakeholders on project commercial and contractual terms in accordance with relevant corporate policy and strategy, acting as the focal point for negotiations and resolution of external scheme interface requirements.
