Head of Religious Studies Department

Job Summary:

MLK Education Search is seeking an exceptional senior teacher and leader to head up the thriving RS Department at a community Academy in Southwark.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead teaching within the RS subject and provide strategic oversight of Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Plan ahead for the growth into Key Stage 5 for the first time in the school's history.
  • Lead training, build relationships with specialist providers, and have an up-to-date knowledge of statutory guidance for RSE and Health Education.
  • Work within and contribute to established Academy and department frameworks for lesson planning, delivery, and evaluation.
  • Support the positive behaviour of students across the faculty.
  • Lead in the assessment process for RS and work with colleagues across the Academy.
  • Consistently plan and deliver outstanding lessons, ensuring that a variety of teaching resources are utilised appropriately.
  • Support and actively contribute to the Academy's EDI strategy, taking oversight for this within the curriculum areas.
  • Ensure that students' work is marked regularly and conscientiously, in accordance with the Academy feedback policy.
  • Be fully committed to the Academy's house and enrichment activities.
