Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The successful candidate will provide medical leadership to the North CAMHS team and work closely with consultant colleagues in CAMHS and Paediatrics.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will provide Consultant Psychiatrist level clinical assessment and treatment to children and young people with general psychiatric disorders. This will involve working mainly with the Core North team and considering Programmed Activities for the neurodevelopmental team. The post holder will also attend and help shape team meetings for clinical governance activities, link with the Home treatment team and crisis team, and allocate 2.5 Programmed Activities for CPD, audit, clinical governance, and other supporting professional activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide medical leadership to the North CAMHS team.
- Provide Consultant Psychiatrist level clinical assessment and treatment.
- Work mainly with Core North team; consider PAs for neurodevelopmental team.
- Attend and help shape team meetings for clinical governance activities.
- Link with Home treatment team and crisis team.
- Allocate 2.5 Programmed Activities for CPD, audit, clinical governance, and other supporting professional activities.
- Train Core, Specialty, and GP trainees.
- Contribute to the daytime Duty Consultant rota.
- Participate in the Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist on-call rota.
- Contribute to teaching and training of STs, CTs, medical students, and MDT members.
- Access admin support through the Peterborough Admin Hub.
- Provide consultation to multi-agency colleagues and attend to safeguarding needs.
- Maintain high quality clinical records and participate in administrative duties.
- Collaborate with medical colleagues to maintain service in absence of departmental colleagues.
Education/Qualifications
Essential
- Full GMC registration and licence to practice
- MRCPsych or equivalent qualification/certification
- Section 12 Approved Psychiatrist or willingness to obtain training
- Approved Clinician Status or willingness to obtain training

- Specialist Registration in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or CESR or within 6 months of attainment of CCT /CESR at time of interview.
- Shall have equivalent experience and competencies as recognised by GMC

- Experience of multi-disciplinary working
- Experience training doctors in training
- Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experiences relevant to this post

- Excellent knowledge in specialty
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills including children and young people
- Ability to take a clinical lead
- Training/skills in a relevant therapeutic modality e.g. CBT
- Experience in clinical management of Learning Disability presentations.

- Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training
- Participated in continuous professional development
- Participated in research or service evaluation
- Able to use and appraise clinical evidence
- Published on a relevant subject in a peer-reviewed journal
- Reflected on purpose of CPD undertaken
- Participated in quality/service improvement initiative
- Led a clinical audit leading to significant change
- Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement
