St John Ambulance is a leading provider of first aid services and training, empowering communities to access essential health support. As a Youth Development Specialist - Community Outreach, you will play a pivotal role in delivering first aid training sessions to young people from under-served communities.
About the RoleThis exciting opportunity requires an individual with experience in youth work or community development to lead and deliver first aid training sessions with local organisations and educational settings. You will be responsible for building partnerships with community groups and educational institutions to promote the project within local communities.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver community-based training sessions on physical and mental health first aid;
- Work collaboratively with Project Coordinators, the project team, and Community Champions to ensure successful project delivery;
- Identify and build relationships with local organisations and educational settings to support project delivery and promote the project within local communities;
- Facilitate training to upskill young people and volunteers to become Community Champions;
- Provide pastoral support and guidance to Community Champions and address any concerns in accordance with St John Ambulance policy;
- Risk assess and register training sessions held in the community in line with St John Ambulance policy.
We offer a competitive salary of £35,000 per annum, generous pension, hybrid flexible working, 33 days holiday (increasing to 38 days over 5 years), and numerous benefits including free first/mental aid courses, Blue Light and NHS online shopping discounts, cycle to work scheme, life assurance, flu jab, eye care, mental health and wellbeing tools, and volunteering days.
Requirements- Experience in youth work or community development;
- Proven planning, organisational, and communication skills with the ability to establish strong working relationships at all levels;
- Understanding of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and social mobility issues;
- Safeguarding training relevant to the role;
- Advanced planning and organisational skills with the ability to establish strong working relationships at all levels.
