About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic individual to support people affected by dementia in a group setting. As a Group Support Volunteer, you will play a vital role in ensuring that individuals with dementia feel comfortable and included in social activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and engage with people affected by dementia, providing a friendly and supportive presence.
  • Assist the Group Facilitator in setting up and tidying away the group area, including preparing refreshments.
  • Support individuals with dementia to participate in activities, promoting social interaction and engagement.
  • Stay after the group to participate in a debrief and discuss any observations or concerns.

Requirements

  • Empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with dementia.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to commit to a regular schedule.
