About the Position: We are seeking a highly skilled Multiscale Materials Engineer to join our team at Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. This exciting opportunity is part of the project DURABLE, funded by the French National Research Agency.

Job Description: The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a numerical method to simulate the propagation of a planar crack in materials containing thousands of heterogeneities. They will also develop a (semi-)analytical homogenization framework to predict the apparent fracture properties of quasi-brittle composites and craft novel patterning strategies for composite design.

Requirements: To be considered for this role, applicants must have a solid background in solid mechanics, applied physics, and mathematics, computational sciences, or a similar discipline. Prior experience in programming and fluency in English are essential. Some knowledge of fracture mechanics is an advantage.

Benefits: As a Multiscale Materials Engineer, you will receive support to write scientific articles, present your work in international conferences, and write research proposals. You will be part of Navier lab, an international research laboratory dedicated to the mechanics and physics of materials.

Salary: The estimated annual salary for this position is $65,000-$85,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Please note that this figure is based on national averages for similar positions in France.
