Coventry, Coventry, United Kingdom Regional Studies Association Full time

Research Opportunity

The Regional Studies Association invites applications for a PhD studentship to explore the everyday economic spaces and practices that emerge during and following war, examining their peace potential in conflict-affected societies.

This research will consider four key questions:

  1. Which everyday economic spaces are constructed in communities affected by violence?
  2. Who partakes in these spaces, and to what use?
  3. In what ways does economic cooperation encourage/drive acts of everyday peace?
  4. How can everyday economic spaces enhance bottom-up peacebuilding in conflict-affected societies?

Methodology

The research will employ multiple methods to compare two case studies, providing valuable insights into how everyday economic spaces and practices help overcome violence and tensions in conflict-affected societies.

Eligibility and Benefits

The successful candidate must have a UK/International (including EU) graduate degree with the required entry requirements. The studentship offers a competitive salary of £25,000-£35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
