Teaching Assistant for Autism Support in Exeter

Teaching Personnel requires a dedicated and compassionate teaching assistant to support primary students with autism in mainstream schools across Exeter.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group support to students with autism, facilitating their access to the curriculum and participation in school life.
  • Collaborate with class teachers to implement tailored support plans, ensuring the meeting of individual needs.
  • Contribute to the development of social, emotional, and communication skills.
  • Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support the use of visual aids, sensory strategies, and structured routines to enhance learning.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff and parents as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, preferably those with autism or additional needs, in an educational setting.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Knowledge of autism support strategies is desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special needs are advantageous but not essential. Training will be provided.
