About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Support Professional to join our multidisciplinary team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

As a Senior Therapy Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients with a variety of conditions, working closely with Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists on ward 22, a short stay rehab unit at Leicester General Hospital.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within a healthcare setting, ideally as a therapy assistant, and possess excellent communication skills, organisational abilities, and the ability to use their initiative.

You will receive comprehensive trust and service induction, regular supervision, annual appraisal, and a training programme to support your development.

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £25,000-£30,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the provision of Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Speech and Language Therapy within a specified clinical area.
  • Carry a clinical caseload discussed and delegated by the relevant team member.
  • Work to Therapy and UHL Service priorities.
  • Support patients, carers, and families in a sensitive and professional manner.
  • Liaise with other professionals for the benefit of the patient.

Person Specification:

  • GCSE English/Maths - or equivalent
  • Experience working within a team
  • Experience in a healthcare setting/previous therapy support worker role
  • Effective communication skills
  • Understanding of the role of OT/PT in an acute setting
  • Experience or understanding of patients with neurological conditions
