About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled SEN Support Assistant to join our team at Classroom Support. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing support to students with special educational needs, including those with autism and ADHD.

Responsibilities:


  • Provide one-on-one support to students with special educational needs, including those with autism and ADHD, to help them participate fully in the classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers to create tailored learning plans that accommodate the specific needs of each student.
  • Support students in developing social skills and emotional regulation, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Assist with behaviour management strategies, providing a calm and nurturing approach to supporting students in times of distress.
  • Contribute to the overall inclusive ethos of the school, promoting diversity and understanding amongst students and staff.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/carers, sharing progress and providing support strategies for the home environment.


Requirements:


  • Relevant experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, particularly autism and ADHD.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN and a commitment to promoting inclusivity and equality in education.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and other support staff.
  • Relevant qualifications in SEN support or a willingness to undergo training.
