Job Summary

The Mechanical Service Specialist will provide field service support at customer sites located in the UK and globally, including offshore installations. This role covers all aspects of field service, from plant installation and commissioning to fault finding and pump or cartridge removal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and troubleshoot operational problems at customer premises, providing detailed reports and digital photographs.
  • Remove or supervise the removal of pumping equipment from sites for transfer to a service centre as needed.
  • Install and commission pumping equipment after return from overhaul or new from factory.
  • Perform condition monitoring and performance activities.
  • Dismantle pumping plant, including cartridge removal, and produce detailed strip/inspection reports with dimensional checks and digital photographs.
  • Reassemble pumping machinery on-site or in a service centre using new spare parts or refurbished techniques.
  • Supervise contractor or client personnel as required to fulfill contract scope.
  • Produce daily reports and technical reports after project completion.
Requirements
  • Fundamental knowledge of pumps and associated equipment is essential.
  • A background in either field service or workshop service of rotating equipment is necessary.
  • Ideal experience includes commissioning rotating equipment in the field or in-house test facilities.
  • Prior experience with light workshop machinery such as drills, milling machines, and conventional lathes is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills are required to articulate machinery assessments to customers.
  • A 'can-do' approach and awareness of what's needed under pressure are crucial.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills are necessary.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
