Job Purpose

As a Technical Director, you will be an integral part of our agile and dynamic Integrated Production team. Our inclusive team culture is one where innovation and collaboration thrive. We strive to deliver exceptional live events, often within tight timelines and evolving scope.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical delivery of complex projects, including onsite execution
  • Define and implement technical approaches and solutions across all projects
  • Oversee the successful technical delivery of all projects, ensuring the right technical team is in place
  • Consult and advise across projects and departments
  • Collaborate with Executive Producers and senior client stakeholders
  • Resource projects with skilled technical producers
  • Ensure technical producers deliver projects to time, cost, and quality
  • Build internal and external relationships
  • Lead on technical supply chain, evolving the list as our portfolio expands
  • Develop and refine internal processes to increase quality and efficiency
New Business Development
  • Identify opportunities to innovate and inspire
  • Understand GPJ's vision and strategy, spotting opportunities to support commercial growth
  • Provide pitch support, including inputting into budgets
Talent Management
  • Mentor and counsel team members and functions
  • Line manage and develop a small team of Technical Producers
  • Nurture, grow, and develop direct reports and technical knowledge within the department
  • Impart knowledge to the Integrated Production team
Finance

Direct budget management of technical aspects for projects

  • Oversight of technical budgets within the department
  • Ensure status of budgets is effectively communicated
About You

Your Background, Skills & Experience
  • A minimum of 8 years experience providing technical solutions for complex event projects
  • Effective and open communication, honest, clear, and constructive
  • Active listening skills and open-mindedness
  • Ability to lead and support courageous conversations
  • Vast experience in physical and virtual event disciplines
  • Detailed understanding of video conferencing platforms, content acquisition techniques, and streaming technologies
  • Vast experience responding and delivering to clients with digital, social media, or tech solutions
  • Expert understanding of audio-visual and lighting technologies, transport and logistics, fabrication, finishes, materials, and print techniques
  • Excellent financial acumen, numeracy, and negotiation skills
  • Experience managing complex budgets of varying sizes
  • IOSH certified is highly desirable
