Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fabric Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Sodexo. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for providing technical advice and support for the maintenance of equipment, building fabric, and utility services across the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust hospital estate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evidence of training in welding techniques and ability to set out, fabricate, install, and commission new steel and copper pipework for all infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of pumps, pressure sets, pressure vessels, and plate heat exchangers, with a broad understanding of legislation and codes of practice affecting engineering works.
  • Undertake risk assessments for maintenance and repair works to ensure safe execution.
  • Ensure plant history is kept up to date and learn new techniques and procedures with training where appropriate.
  • Liaise with departmental manager, ward/clinic staff, or administrators and observe departmental procedures.
  • Identify and request materials for repairs/modifications, supplying comprehensive technical details to the Mechanical PTB/Mechanical Manager.
  • Carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks, including statutory maintenance, planned preventative maintenance, and testing.
  • Provide technical advice to other maintenance staff and contractors to ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures.
  • Allocate tasks and ensure safe execution in accordance with the Project Agreement.
Requirements
  • Proven experience within a similar role, with experience of mechanical systems, pressure systems, pumps, motors, and bearings.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and work well in a pressurized environment.
  • Able to demonstrate an aptitude for problem-solving using a logical approach and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Aware of relevant Health & Safety and general legislative matters, with the ability to attend external and internal courses as required.
  • Computer literate and able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, with a good level of mathematical skills.
  • Previous experience within a Health Service context, with the ability to demonstrate maturity in working with Hard FM groups.
  • Any specialist knowledge relevant to the healthcare environment, with previous experience using SharePoint and Maximo CAFM systems (desirable).
