Job Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Consultant Obstetrician to join our team at Colchester Hospital in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department. As a specialist in high-risk obstetrics and antenatal care, you will be responsible for providing expert care to women with complex pregnancies.

This is a new post that offers the opportunity to develop specialist obstetric services according to your special interests. You will work closely with the Labour Ward Lead Consultant and Obstetric Governance Lead Consultant to ensure high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate will have completed CCT or equivalent (CESR) and must be on the Specialist Register.

About the Role

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Clinical and administrative responsibility for the proper functioning of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department.
  • Develop standards, procedures, and robust systems to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care.
  • Supervision of junior medical staff in the Unit.
  • An active part in educational programmes for junior medical staff, including formal teaching sessions and clinical audits.
