Job Opportunity: SEND Specialist Tutor

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Specialist Tutor to provide one-to-one tuition to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who are unable to access mainstream education.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a passionate and creative tutor to support students with SEN in the Honiton area. Many students with SEN have become disengaged with their learning, and we aim to provide a supportive and structured environment to help them regain their confidence and achieve their full potential.

As a SEND Specialist Tutor, you will be responsible for creating and delivering tailored lesson plans to bridge gaps in students' education and boost their attainment levels. You may be an experienced tutor or teacher, or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way.

Your primary goal will be to support and re-engage students in their learning, offer structure and routine, and continue their educational development. The tuition will replace school for these students, and will typically take place during school hours, five days a week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and deliver tailored lesson plans to meet the individual needs of students with SEN
  • Provide one-to-one tuition to students with SEN
  • Monitor and track students' progress, submitting weekly reports to Prospero Teaching
  • Work collaboratively with students, parents, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for students
Requirements
  • QTS or equivalent
  • UK classroom teaching experience or experience working with SEN children in a care environment
  • Experience supporting young people with SEN
  • Ability to think creatively and work outside the box
  • Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service
