About the Role - In this position, you will handle building control and integrated planning duties, ensuring compliance with building regulations and associated standards. You will manage multiple projects, overseeing daily operations, and reporting on site inspections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and mentor less experienced staff to maintain high service levels and quality standards.
  • Support the introduction of new products and services as needed.
  • Evaluate applications and make informed decisions.
  • Attend meetings, training sessions, and seminars to stay up-to-date with industry developments.
  • Represent Assent BC professionally and build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Take ownership of a portfolio of projects within a designated area.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to clients and junior team members.
  • Effectively manage time to optimize inspection visits and plan checking requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and site visits.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers to drive business growth.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, fostering meaningful connections.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A keen eye for detail and process-oriented mindset.
  • The ability to make pragmatic decisions that ensure safe and compliant buildings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of industry trends.
  • Chartered or working towards full corporate membership of the Chartered Institute of Building Engineers or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
  • Holding and maintaining appropriate Technical Class 2A-2D Registered Building Inspector (RBI) status.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, technical guidance, and the impact of The Building Safety Act (2022).
  • Familiarity with fire safety, health, and safety protocols.
  • A deep understanding of the construction design process and RIBA Stages of work.
  • Competency framework and code of professional conduct rules.
  • Knowledge of customer care and equal opportunities principles in providing a Building Control function.
  • A track record of ensuring compliance and enforcement with building regulations, with experience across various types of buildings and projects.
  • Effective self-management of site inspections and reporting.
  • Assessing safety and risk, working experience in a building control environment.

Estimated Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience and location.
