Job Summary:

The Estimator role at TAIT is a critical position that requires a strong analytical mind and excellent communication skills. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for assisting the organisation with various estimating tasks, ranging from entire projects to individual parts. Your primary goal will be to provide accurate historical cost data and reports to the organisation to help manage staff, evaluate future elements, and predict final project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of realistic estimates to support the development and management of projects.
  • Incorporate feedback from involved teams to deliver projects within a given budget.
  • Build a database of past project costs and forecasting tools to inform future bids.
  • Work closely with Project Management, Design, Finance, Procurement, and Production Control on estimates, production estimates, etc.
  • Engage Fabrication, Machine, and Integration in the estimating process when applicable.
  • Navigate ERP to pull relevant data for estimation comparisons.
  • Walk the Fabrication floor regularly to observe progress and learn patterns of various elements during production.
  • Ability to sensibly produce estimates with appropriate fidelity depending on the requirement and the time available.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in collating and presenting data dependent on bid requirements.
  • Creative aptitude with a solid understanding of construction techniques and materials.
  • Support other project tasks as assigned, for example, Cost to Complete (CTC).
  • Collaborate effectively and efficiently with all members of the Estimating team.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend meetings, seminars, and training sessions as required.
  • Perform assigned duties according to the policies and expectations prescribed by the company.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in any field or 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in controls, construction, estimation, bidding, or proposal building.
  • Experience with ERP software (I.E. Epicor).
  • Strong numeracy skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
