As a leader in the business, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving the culinary operation at Barley Mow, developing their people, and maintaining high standards of food quality and safety.

The ideal candidate will have a high standard of food knowledge and skill, with experience of running beautiful kitchens and developing their people to become the Head Chefs of the future. They will be a born leader who wants to drive a team of hardworking, friendly, and ambitious chefs who are working towards the common goal of excellence.

Some of the key responsibilities of the Head Chef will include:

  • Supporting the recruitment and induction of new team members
  • Leading, managing, and developing the kitchen team
  • Conducting kitchen audits and maintaining operational standards
  • Creating kitchen rotas and ensuring labour targets are met
  • Designing, creating, and costing new menu items for daily specials
  • Conducting weekly stock takes and ensuring delivery of GP margins
  • Adopting a proactive strategy to boost sales and drive growth by engaging effectively with both the kitchen and front-of-house teams
